NY6 Conference Hosts Student Photography & Video Exhibition

Saturday, September 17, 2016

The Sixth Annual New York Six Upstate Undergraduate Research Conference is expanding to include the arts!  The conference will be held on Saturday, September 17 at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, and we are expecting around 100 student presenters and several dozen faculty mentors to participate.  This year, for the first time, this event will also feature an exhibition of student photography and video works which will be displayed in a one-day pop-up exhibition that afternoon, and will include a reception and viewing of the works by all conference attendees.  The works will be displayed in the galleries of Hamilton's new Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts.  Student artists are encouraged to attend the Conference and other specific events may be arranged for those artists in attendance.

Students will have the opportunity to submit a registration to display photographic and/or video works for inclusion in the NY6 Arts Exhibition as part of this Conference.  Students across the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium and other regional schools are invited to participate.  To encourage participation and to support plans for the pop-up exhibition, the deadline for submitting registration of works is requested by 9/8/2016 (please plan to bring completed works back to campus rather than leaving them home this summer).

***JUST ANNOUNCED:  Nick Brandreth, an expert in 20th century digital techniques who gives workshops at the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY, will be offering a 3-hour workshop on 4x5 dry plate negative processing, to include the making of a photograph of participants and a darkroom demonstration.  The workshop will be free to those selected to display their photographic and video works at this pop-up exhibition.  A guided tour of the Wellin museum's new exhibition "Senses of Time: Video and Film-Based Works of Africa" may also be available.  Please register today to reserve your spot!
