Students: Summer Fellowship Opportunities Available through the New York Six
The New York Six Upstate Summer Research Fellows Program brings students and faculty together in synergistic ways around important scholarly topics relevant to the upstate New York region. This Upstate Summer Research Fellows Program will fund fellows to conduct research under the direction of a faculty mentor, ideally at another New York Six institution. For full descriptions of the available research projects, please see the attached “Summer 2018 Research Positions” document.
This inter-institutional research program aims to do the following:
- Provide new opportunities for student intellectual growth,
- Promote student-faculty collaboration across the Consortium, and
- Encourage interdisciplinary inquiry that connects local interests with global issues.
Student fellowships will last 6-8 weeks with the expectation that the student will work full-time on a research project at a host institution. Fellows will spend this time on campus working with their faculty mentor. Students awarded a fellowship will receive a $450 weekly stipend for the duration of the fellowship. Room, board, and transportation may be arranged separately out of the stipend funds. Fellows may not accept another position during their fellowship appointment.
Fellows will be expected to report on their projects at the 2018 Undergraduate Research Conference to be held on Saturday, September 15 at St. Lawrence University.
