The New York Six Civic Engagement Working Group, which includes faculty and staff involved in various institutes and centers that support student learning through community partnerships, are meeting to continue conversations that began during their initial call to connect in July 2016.  This follows the completion of a survey to assess civic engagement across the NY6, and will include conversations that consider both national involvement and institutional support for civic engagement...

The NY6 will be hosting an online information session for students who are interested in learning more about taking Hindi through this new instructional collaboration. The New York Six 2015-16 Annual Report is now available. The report highlights activity and engagment by nearly 1,000 faculty, students and staff across the Consortium. Thanks to all for your involvement, without which the NY6 would not be the success story that it is. Here's to an exciting and engaging year ahead!

The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium has entered into an agreement with Syracuse University to offer instruction in Hindi language to NY6 students through a synchronous video connection.  

Why Syracuse?  Syracuse University, in collaboration with Cornell University, is designated as a National Resource Center for South Asia, one of only eight such centers supported by the U.S. Department of Education.  

Why Hindi?  None of the NY6 schools...

The "Marginalized Communities in Urban Centers" working group, which is part of the Upstate-Global Collective project, will host its first workshop at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in August 2016.  Faculty will read and discuss a common set of readings developed in the spring 2016 in order to create a common background on the issues of migration and the challenges of integrated citizenship.  In addition, faculty will invite representatives from Rochester, NY-based refugee community...
