The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium has announced that it will postpone the 2020 Spectrum Conference, which was scheduled for April 3-5 at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. This decision was made after operational and scheduling changes were made by member institutions, which preclude their participation.

The Spectrum Conference will be rescheduled for a date to be determined during the 2020-2021 academic year.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to register for the 9th Annual NY6 Undergraduate Research Conference, to be held on Saturday, October 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Union College in Schenectady, NY. The New York Six Upstate Summer Research Fellows Program funds students to conduct research under the direction of a faculty mentor, ideally at another New York Six institution. Fellowships were awarded based on a composite of information including academic experiences, relevant professional and research-based activities, and the extent to which their interests align with the research positions available.

The presidents of the New York Six member institutions have submitted a joint comment letter concerning the U.S. Department of Education's proposed regulations for Title IX, citing provisions that would be harmful to individuals involved in sexual assault cases, as well as inconsistencies with existing New York state law, known as "Enough is Enough."

The New York Six is piloting a new class for Spring 2019! Professor Jack Harris, from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, will be teaching a 200-level sociology class on Vietnam that is open to students at Hobart and William Smith, St. Lawrence University, and Skidmore College.

The class, called "Vietnam: Conflict, Contradiction, and Change," is fully synchronous and will meet on Mondays and Fridays from 8:35-10:00 am.
